I always said Mama was rotten. Her sour face and gruff demeanor could chase anyone away. That’s when it dawned on me; she really was rotting on the inside.
Her heart was fermenting from years of neglect. I knew the decay had surely spread to her other organs as well. So, I did what any daughter with good intentions would. I fixed her up, real nice. I scraped out every last trace of tainted flesh and muscle. Then, I filled her gaping emptiness with sawdust, the way Daddy used to with squirrels and rabbits.
She’s much happier now. I know because she’s always smiling. She doesn’t talk much anymore, but I don’t mind. I just wish she’d change the channel now and then. I’m tired of watching PBS.
I offer up this twisted tale for the weekly word challenge at: trifectawritingchallenge.com. This week’s word is intention and the usage they are looking for is what one wants to do or bring about. Also, accepted is the object for which a prayer or pious act is offered. All entries must be somewhere between 33 – 333 words in length.
Do you have a marvelous story in you just waiting to come out? Can you show a character’s intentions in 333 words or under? Then be sure to check out the website above and enter the challenge!
o0o0o0 this is creppy and delicious
Yeah, I was in a weird mood when I wrote this one. I think I once watched a tales from the crypt episode about human taxidermy. Not sure where the inspiration for this particular story came about though…
I love it lol
Half way through reading it I thought it might have been a furniture restoration by the photo LOL
I couldn’t find a single copyright free taxidermy image to use. I decided to just go with the old lady furniture out of sheer annoyance at being unable to find what I wanted.
Ahhhh lol
Creepy good!!! Made me laugh as the goose bumps raced up my arm. That’s messed up! I love it!!
Glad my morbid humor wasn’t lost on everyone. I have plenty more creepy stuff coming. Just gotta get it off my old hard drive, somehow… 😦
Get to it woman!!
I really hope the hard drive is okay or I’ll cry. Until I can find out, I think I’m going to put up an epilogue I made for a novel that’s been in my head for a few years now.
Humorously macabre. A great story.
Why thank you. I normally don’t do comedy but I figured I’d give it a shot.
The twist is a great hook early on in the story. Dark and amusing.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
muah-hahahaha xD Awesome!
Glad it got a chuckle out of you 🙂
Whoa. Eerily funny with great narration. She sure knew how to take care of Mama.. What a great usage of the word prompt!
Glad you enjoyed my black humor spin on it 🙂
I, personally, never liked stuffed derma.
🙂
Creepy and dark – Loved this one.
Glad you enjoyed my creepy little tale. 🙂
Thanks for this! It provided inspiration…and made me post one too 🙂
Awesomeness! That’s what I love to hear 🙂
Can’t wait to read it!
Hilarious. Although, thank goodness it was PBS and not Fox News. The complete disconnect from what life is was amazing.
Constant Fox News? Geez, I was trying to depict a woman in her living room, not the depths of hell.

Love this. 🙂
Awesome. I was kinda worried that folks might find it too gross for their comfort levels but luckily everyone who commented thus far has had good taste 😉
Very creepy. I love the shocking twist. Fun stuff… in an incredibly weird way.
Yup, I had a lot of fun with this one. I am super pleased that it apparently shows. Thanks for stopping by and commenting 🙂

Omg!What a makeover!Psycho revisited!lol!Loved it totally!:-)
Wow, I wasn’t even thinking of that. This totally could continue on into a psycho meets deliverance kinda story. Glad you enjoyed it.
Am sure you were not or it would not have come out so beautifully fresh & original:-)And that’s a fantastic idea-why don’t you write that & give us another treat?Would love to read that-love these wicked, evil, dark writings-u all are so talented:-)
Thank you, if I get much more praise I am going to wind up with a big head. 😉
Ha!ha!
I love this! Thanks for writing it.
Thank you for reading it!
I love the “dark” and crazy stuff. She could be a taxidermist as well.
In my mind I picture a really botched job but since she’s the only one that’s going to be venturing out that far onto her property and see the hack job, I guess that’s all that matters.
Norman!? Norman, what are you doing!? Norman, don’t touch me!! Norman!!! Put me down!!!
Fabulous!!! What a perfect quote for this post!!! And from one of my all-time favorite films, no less 🙂
Yeah it was an awesome and fitting quote, wasn’t it. lol
hehehe, maybe Norman had a sister that was adopted to a sheltered family in the mountains.
So then a co-quel to Psycho is in the works? That’s not a sequel, or prequel, but the story that happens alongside the story…just made that up for the occasion 🙂
It’s not this innocence to it, that makes it funny, while also creepy at the same time. Nice Job. 🙂
The girl is a simpleton, true enough.
wow, I worded my comment funky.. glad you understood what I was trying to say. 🙂
Yikes! This was creepy, but I that last line made me laugh. At least she took care to ‘prepare’ her mom, rather than just stuff her in a freezer.
She could never stuff her Mom in the freezer, she would give her hell if she did. Besides, she’s a ‘good’ girl. She doesn’t want her Mama to be uncomfortable and cold.
Very cool.
Thank you kindly 🙂

Wow, thank you. I donno if my skills are all that but I do like how this story came out, for sure 🙂
Ha! You had me going. I thought this was going to be about redecorating! Well I guess it is if you count Ma as a new bobble! HA!
A bobble or perhaps even a pin cushion, yikes!
So creepy – I love the imagery of scraping out all the rot inside.
They whole idea of removing something’s insides and filling them back up with stuffing and posing them to look like they are still alive is creepy as hell to me. It always has been.
